Extreme heat and drought can have disastrous effects on trout streams. Trout are a cold water species and can not tolerate water temperatures that are too high.
Late last week I visited my all time favourite trout stream with the hope of even just sighting a trout. I really just wanted to check up on the stream to see whether the trout had survived the extreme summer that we have been enduring.
Trout streams can be fickle, trout are not overly resilient. How has my favourite trout stream stood up in this extremely hot summer?
