Nancy Litten

Nancy Litten entered the Royal Academy of Music, London at age 16 on an open piano scholarship, winning prizes while there. She has performed as an accompanist and pianist in solo, orchestral, and chamber music. She has also been a freelance orchestral violinist, leader of a string quartet, and choral director. Teaching has included schools, courses, masterclasses, and private pupils. She has spoken at conferences, including those of the European Piano Teachers Association in the UK and abroad, the UK's national MUSIC EXPO, and MTA conferences in Arizona, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania. She has been an ABRSM examiner for 25 years, involving much travel in the UK and abroad. She is also an adjudicator with The British and International Federation of Festivals, and serves on their Council, assessing new adjudicators.

Alfred Music UK has published her Keyed Up electronic keyboard tutors, Playing with Colour violin
tutors (co-author Sharon Goodey), Choral and Vocal Warm-ups for pianists, Choral and Vocal Sight
Singing with keyboard harmony, and Rounds with Accompaniment. Her arrangements of well-known pieces for piano trio are in two books: Classical Vienna, and Romantic Vienna. Many of her
compositions and arrangements can be found in TLC and ABRSM publications including The Sad
Ghost for grade 3 piano. Piano Postcards was published by EVC music in 2022; it contains 12 original pieces with a travel theme for intermediate level pianists.

This piece is found in a publication by EVC Music: 22 Nocturnes for Chopin by women composers. The pieces were written by a group that includes well-known women composers as well as less established names and are being made available for the first time. "The anthology is a result of the #CallToWomenComposers worldwide search for not-yet-published women composers initiated by pianist Rose McLachlan and EVC Music in 2022. EVC received over eighty piano scores in a
variety of styles. The selection committee were presented with ‘nameless’ scores, and sixteen were chosen in addition to six commissions by established composers. Each composer in this collection speaks in her own authentic voice. Her music stirs emotions and reveals her cultural influences.
