The tsuba or sword guard is one of the most striking Japanese katana fittings. In this "ancient-meets-modern" video, swordsmith Walter Sorrells shows the making of two tsubas, creating designs using a modern laser engraver and a lot of good old fashioned hand work. One guard is made from mild steel, while the other is forged from antique wrought iron.
