its really thick stuff, so have a plan!
i had a really old deck, boards were dried and cracked pretty severely, here's the plan that work best for me:
1) clean. i used the special Rustoleum deck wask and after that my pressure washer.
2) prime. i drove an extra hour cuz Dubuque Menards didnt have the primer, so i went to Plattevilke WI (so glad i did, great stuff).
3) roll. Since my deck had some remnants of the old cream colored paint it was initially hard to cover consistently. so...
- i pre-painted between the boards and a light brushing of the boards to tone them down.
- i cut the special rollers in half! this helped a lot, cuz my old deck had a lot of height variations on the decking boards.
- be generous! i didnt try to spread it thin. Load the roller, roll it on, re-load. if ya start trying to stretch it out your making more work out of it than necessary.
