Little boring early whilst "on torp patrol" but I did get caught (ass whooped) and got away licking my wounds lol. That early ass whooping 'permanent injury" cooled my guns for the rest of the match
Typical for Pan Euros (and truly all DDs), they're strong in the late game so don't die early!
Her torps are 13.5k range @ 90 knots Nobody expects 90 kt torps from an Oster lol. That's Halland fast!
Her guns are Meh for tier 9 but not "bad"... sort of lol.
My setup is "mostly torps" but with some buffs for the guns and AA. (shown)
She's easy to hit which effectively makes her guns all that much worse.
On paper she maneuvers very well (like an Oland) but not so in game. She sucks at high speed turns so to turn around you must slow to 1/2 to 3/4 throttle to get a decent turn radius, "that's slow"!
Her AA is very strong, but those days are long gone with the many CV reworks.
Back in the day she was AA brutal. I still boost her AA though which in turn extends her gun range, never gun fight closer than 8k against capital ships with any Pan Euro DD... Never! 9k to 12k OK yes, but only when kiting positioned or in having a nearby island to tuck behind, Chip-chip-chip is her guns calling. You should never go looking for a DD gun fight at any range.
Östergötlands hunt is Cruisers and BBs, her fast narrow spread 13.5k torps allow her to fight outside of Radar range and her reload is pretty quick.
All in all Östergötland is a pretty strong DD but she's a-bit situation dependent. Like Halland and many torp boats, when your torps hit you have a good game and when they don't... you don't.
That's why I like to Lengthen Pan Euro guns, shell velocity is 850 m/s: you can hit BBs out to 12k and cruisers out to 10+k and be reasonably safe. Get too close though and "ouch" (as seen here)
