Pre-Collision Throttle Management is designed to help prevent the driver from accidentally accelerating into obstacles ahead. If EyeSight detects objects in front of the vehicle when the driver starts to accelerate, the Pre-Collision Throttle Management system alerts the driver by sounding an alarm and flashing a visual warning. At the same time, the system reduces engine output to limit acceleration and give the driver time to break.
Pre-Collision Throttle Management is particularly helpful in the following situations: (1) The driver mistakenly selects Drive instead of Reverse and starts to accelerate toward a parked car, wall or parking structure, etc.* (2) The vehicle is stopped behind another car waiting to merge onto another road, such as a busy highway. When the car ahead starts to move, the driver starts to accelerate but then the car ahead suddenly stops.
* The system may not operate depending on the shape and the appearance of objects in front, including the situation where the vehicle is facing a wire fence, or where the wall has no patterns.
