While in Cusco preparing for our 5 day trek to Machu Picchu, the guiding company required that we spend at least 2 days in Cusco acclimatizing to the high altitude before our trek. So to kill time, we went to a place called Action Valley where we got on a "ride" called the Superman.
This ride was nuts. This would never be allowed in the United States or any developed nation. This is something straight out of a Wile E Coyote and the Road Runner cartoon. It's basically a reverse bungee jump. Your are tethered to the ground. They give you a cape and 2 neck braces. Then they attach the bungee to a crane high up in the sky and stretch the bungee. When they pull the cord, you are shot up in the sky. It's a huge rush! One second you're looking at the ground and all of a sudden you are shot off into the sky. No wonder they called this the Superman, it's the closest feeling to taking off and flying like you would see in the movies.
Here's a tip, fellas, adjust your junk, when you get shot off, the straps around your legs get real tight. And try to keep your neck as still as possible, the sudden jolt will whip your neck. I felt neck pain for the next few days (and I don't have neck problems). If you have a weak neck or neck problems, this ride is not for you.
