A old recording of a tape of Syd Scroggie reciting his own poem and Jim Reid singing Dark Lochnagar .Jim was one of our best folk singers sadly no longer with us ,one of Jim's best known songs was I Saw the Wild Geese Flee ,words by Violet Jacob.Sydney Scroggie hillwalker, writer, poet, born in Brittish Columbia in 1919,and came to Dundee after his father was killed in World War 1. In the last months of 2nd World War Syd serving as a officer with the Lovat Scouts in Italy was blown up by a mine and lost a leg and his sight in both eyes .But with good humour and determination he overcame his disabilities to return to his beloved hills, walking thousands of miles and making more than a 100 blind climbs many on Lochnagar Sydney died in 2009
