Individuals with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) are preoccupied with an aspect of their appearance that they perceive to be defective in some way. These perceived defects in appearance are not observable or are only slightly noticeable to others. Research indicates that about 1% of adults in the US have body dysmorphic disorder
