1-2. The dawns here are quiet/А зори здесь тихие. 1972. Director: Stanislav Rostotsky. During WWII in a small village outpost, a commander has his troop replaced by an all female unit. German paratroopers are spotted nearby... The film was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

3-4. The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!/Ирония судьбы, или с легким паром! 1976. Director: Eldar Ryazanov. Following their annual tradition, a group of friends meet at a banya in Moscow to celebrate New Year's Eve. The film is a classic piece of Russian popular culture and is traditionally broadcast in Russia and almost all former Soviet republics every New Year'Eve.

5. The Cranes Are Flying/Летят журавли. 1957. Director: Mikhail Kalatozov. The only Soviet film to win the Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival. It depicts the suffering of ordinary people who were touched by the war.

6-7. Office Romance/Служебный роман. 1977. Director: Eldar Ryazanov. A comedy film. Anatoli Yefremovich Novoseltsev works in a statistics institution, whose director is an unattractive and bossy woman. An old friend of his, Yuri Samokhvalov, who gets appointed assistant director of the institution, advises Novoseltsev to lightly hit on the boss.

8-9. A Cruel Romance/Жестокий романс. 1984. Director: Eldar Ryazanov. Screen version of Alexander Ostrovsky's classic play Without a Dowry (1878)

10. Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears/Москва слезам не верит. 1980. Director: Vladimir Menshov. Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. The plot centers on three young women who come to Moscow from smaller towns.

11. Love and Doves/Любовь и голуби. Romantic comedy film by Vladimir Menshov, leader of Soviet distribution in 1984.

12-13. The Very Same Munchhausen/Тот самый Мюнхгаузен. 1979. Director: Mark Zakharov. Beautiful yet tragic story that is filled with dense and intellectual dialogue. "An intelligent face is not a sign of intelligence... All asinity on earth is made by people wearing this expression. Smile, gentlemen! Smile!"

14-15. An Ordinary Miracle/Обыкновенное чудо. 1978. Director: Mark Zakharov. The Wizard invents a fairy tale to amuse himself and his wife. The tale's characters come to life and come to his house.

16. The Carnival Night /Карнавальная ночь. 1956. Director: Eldar Ryazanov. The employees of a House of culture are ready with their annual New Year's entertainment program, but a new director has been appointed...

17. Гусарская баллада / The Hussar Ballad. 1962. Director: Eldar Ryazanov. A musical comedie about adventures of brave girl during the Napoleonic wars.

18. Gypsies Are Found Near Heaven/Табор уходит в небо. Director: Emil Loteanu. The film tells a love story between the gypsy girl Rada and the horse thief Zobar of early 20th century. The most attended movie in USSR in 1976.

19. Operation Y and Shurik's Other Adventures/Операция "Ы" и другие приключения Шурика. Director: Leonid Gaidai. A 1965 Soviet slapstick comedy film about the adventures of Shurik, the naive Soviet student who often gets into ludicrous situations.

20. The Caucasian Prisoner/Kidnapping, Caucasian Style/Кавказская пленница, или Новые приключения Шурика. Director: Leonid Gaidai. A 1967 comedy film dealing with a humorous plot revolving around bride kidnapping, an old tradition that used to exist in the Northern Caucasus.

21. Ivan Vasilievich Changes Professions/Иван Васильевич меняет профессию. A comic science fiction film directed by Leonid Gaidai in 1973 and based on the play "Ivan Vasilievich" by Mikhail Bulgakov.

22. The Girls/Девчата. 1961. Director: Yuri Chulyukin. A romantic comedy set in an isolated logging camp in 1950-s. A naive young girl arrives there and is assigned as a cook for the camp.

23. The Diamond Arm/Бриллиантовая рука. 1968. Director: Leonid Gaidai. The plot of this comedy film was based on a real-life news item about smugglers who tried to transport jewels in an orthopedic cast.

24. Station for Two/Вокзал для двоих. 1982. Director: Eldar Ryazanov. A pianist missed his train because of the grumpy waitress of the station restaurant. But was it bad luck in fact?..

25-26. White Bim Black Ear /Белый Бим Чёрное ухо. 1977. Director: Stanislav Rostotsky. The film was nominated for the Oscar. A Scottish Setter was born with the improper coloration. Despite this, he was taken by an elderly writer, who was fond of hunting. But after the owner got to the hospital, Bim turned out to be homeless. He had to face human indifference and cruelty...

27. We'll Live Till Monday/Доживём до понедельника. 1968. Director: Stanislav Rostotsky. A drama film about the life of an ordinary Moscow school with its joys, problems and difficult choices in their lives of students and teachers.
