Thanks for tuning in! In this video, I'm going through a brief description of my replacement of the brake master cylinder and brake booster on the 2005 Outback with parts from a 2002 WRX. Why do this? The WRX has a 1 1/16" diameter master cylinder, the Outback's is 15/16". This is an increase in area of 28%!. This reduces pedal travel (and mushiness), at some cost of increased required pedal force for a bit more of a sporty brake feel.
This video intentionally does not go into process because I want anyone doing this job to (1) know what they are doing and (2) follow the factory workshop manuals from both the donor and recipient cars. Don't fool around when working on your cars' brakes. I do have a couple warnings on what could happen if things are adjusted incorrectly, but again, I won't provide details on how to do it in this video. READ THE MANUAL.
