Digital transformation is seen as a key organisational strategy to support sustainable growth. Despite being capital intensive, the construction industry is notable for its reliance on traditional and paper-based processes and systems.
Technologies like Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Extended Reality, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) are changing the way buildings are designed, made and maintained. With these technologies, not only the communication between stakeholders become fast and easy, but also communication between human actors and machines has become possible.
During this #BIMTalk session facilitated by Sileshi D Tesema, MSc BEng EngTech MIET, we will discuss how BIM has paved the way for the digital transformation of Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations (AECO) sector.
Sileshi Tesema was awarded BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and MSc in Building Information Management (BIM) from the University of Westminster. He is currently working in the Construction Sector as a Senior Technician/BIM Coordinator at Source Design Services a member of the Kier Group. He is an enthusiast for digitalization and Digital Transformation.
Sileshi was awarded EngTech from the Engineering Council UK and is a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and BRE. He volunteers for the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) local networks, the Ethiopian community in the UK as Secretary of E4E UK (Ethiopians for Ethiopian UK) and currently serving as Vice-president of the General Assembly for Ethiopian BIM Society (EBIMS).
