Myxedema coma nursing NCLEX review on the pathophysiology, causes, signs and symptoms, and treatment (medications and pharmacology). Myxedema coma is a life-threatening complication of untreated hypothyroidism and presents with severe hypothermia, bradycardia, hyponatremia, hypoglycemia, hypotension, and myxedema. Myxedema coma is treated with intravenous thyroid hormones replacement medication, such as Synthroid. Nursing interventions include monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and monitoring for side effects.
