Welcome to Top Tread Stairways. So, here we've got a curved or circular staircase that we just finished installing at a custom home in Shingle Springs, CA. It located right inside a window so you can enjoy it from both the outside and inside. The first 5 treads are straight and the next 7 are in the curved portion. This creates a very attractive design as the stair appears to take a twist in the middle portion. The staircase is "floating" which means only a portion of one stringer is wall supported and the other stringer is entirely clear span, that is, its only attached at each floor level. There are raised panels on all the stringers (even in the curved section).
