The fourth day in, and the fourth brilliant breakfast we had enjoyed. Morocco certainly knows how to put on a breakfast spread! After polishing off plenty of bread, jam, yoghurt, and coffee, and we had such fun laughing and joking. At 9am, we made our way out of the desert by 4×4, which was another unforgettable experience, and managed to leave Merzouga by 10:30am for our longest drive of the trip back up to Fes.

Halfway through the long drive we stopped for a quick lunch in Midelt, a fairly large town halfway between Merzouga and Fes. And we stopped again near ifran for a coffee break in a local cafe during sunset and had a lovely conversation with the host and We arrived in Fes for 8pm, after a crazy traffic jam making our way through the city and then we checking in to our riad went our for dinner and called it a day.

The direct drive from Merzouga to Fes is 289mi (465 km), and should have a drive time of 8 hrs 21 mins in normal traffic.
