It was a trip upon which I spent hours of meticulous planning--google earth locations, researching routes, loading camping gear, food, water--and then everything fell apart. I wanted to video the old bypass cut south of Nelson Tunnel, then head over and document the long-abandoned Gleed Loop, then head over to Diablo Canyon and spend the night. But troubles with the Jeep (a bad case of 'death wobble') and a forest of 'No Trespassing' signs turned the whole three-day excursion into a nightmare.
So I came away with about eight minutes of worthwhile video which I am sharing here. I'm also looking forward to a return and I am hopeful to find new ways to video that which I missed the first time around.
In the meantime, join me trackside for a couple of heavy freights working hard up the grade at Pica, AZ.
