DECCAN HAAT – Connecting Rural Artisans
Organised by NABARD Telangana Regional Office, the Deccan Haat set up in People’s Plaza, the most happening place in Hyderabad, at the Necklace Road in Hyderabad from February 17 to 24 was thoughtfully designed to create market space for rural craftspeople in an urban milieu.
In its 2nd edition, the exhibition offered a delightful amalgam of craft and food. 66 stalls were erected for Artisans particularly trained under NABARD’s Micro Entrepreneurship development programme (MEDP) and Skill Development Programme (SDP) from across the country, showcasing and selling their products that had a kaleidoscopic view of the richness and diversity of Indian handicrafts and artifacts. NABARD has constantly worked towards facilitating the women artisans belonging to SHGs and other craftsperson in acquiring entrepreneurial skills and guide them to become economically independent.
