Today, we’re profiling Idi Amin. He was the Butcher of Uganda, the soldier turned dictator, an original wind-up merchant and a cold-hearted tyrant. From 1971 to 1979, Amin ruled over the East African country of Uganda with a bloody iron fist.

His regime caused the deaths of an estimated 300,000 to half a million people. His ultra-nationalist policies and gross economic mismanagement plunged the nation into chaos. His buffoonery and turbulent diplomatic relations are now the stuff of legends.

I might add that the quote in the title " simply a beast" is attributed to Sunny Orumen Akhigbe who according to James Barter, knew Amin well and said this in 2003, shortly after Amin's death.
