African Warriors of Light is our non-profit organisation that focuses on empowering and uplifting less fortunate people through traditional karate. This organisation has survived on being self-funded by our founders, but we believe it is time to help them in helping others. Therefore, we appeal to you in aiding the growth and upliftment of our underprivileged students.
This sponsorship appeal is directed towards our newest African Warriors of Light dojo, the Thandokhulu Dojo.
This dojo comprises of 32 students from different townships that face copious challenges in everyday life. Karate is giving them hope. It gives them power. It is also enabling them to choose a different lifestyle and path for themselves. These students are dealing with problems rife in townships such as:
• Substance abuse
• Physical abuse
• Emotional/mental abuse
• Gangsterism
• Violence
• Anger issues
The Thandokhulu students have been training twice a week for the past 6 months without karate gi’s or equipment and 27 of these students were recently graded to yellow belt which required dedication, commitment and hard training.
The time has arrived for us to honour our pledge to these students by providing them with Gi’s, belts and equipment as they have achieved their first short-term goal.
