Life on tour with an orchestra is demanding and busy, but also a lot of fun. Violinist Helen Wu shows the true "day in the life" of an NYO-USA musician on tour, from wake-up call to bed checks, on the orchestra's concert Day in Xi'an, China. Before their concert at the Xi'an Concert Hall, the musicians visited Xi'an's most famous sight: the Terracotta Warriors.
Each summer, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute brings together the brightest young musicians from across the country (ages 16–19) to form the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). In 2015, following a two-week training residency with leading professional orchestra musicians, these remarkable teenagers were joined by conductor Charles Dutoit and pianist YUNDI for a seven-city tour of China.
