Fish are vertebrates (have a backbone) that live in the water. they can be found all over the world. There are over 30,000 different kinds of fish with a variety of colors and sizes.
Fish have gills that help them to breathe in the water.. Most fish have 4 gills on both sides of their head.
Most fishes are covered with scales which gives them protection. These scales are made from incredibly thin pieces of bones.
Do you know why fish scales are slimy?
It is to protect the fish from bacteria, pollution, and parasites. It also helps the fish to glide in the water easily so they use less energy to swim.
