In this video we look at the 7 modes of the major scale (Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian and Locrian). The modes are an essential tool for improvisation and understanding them fully will increase the possibilities in your own playing, composing and soloing. In this video, we first look at the history of the modes, before looking in depth at each mode and its corresponding chord symbol. We finish the video with a couple of exercise to get them modes under your fingers and into your solos quickly.
