Re-enactment of the making of Sherman's Neckties. During the Civil War Sherman's troops were ordered to dismantle railroad track and destroy the lines. They would heat the track until soft and then bend them around a tree. In this re-enactment rails are heated then bent around a tree. This was performed at Fort McAllister civil war fort in Richmond Hill Georgia. This fort was a prime target for Sherman on his infamous "March to the Sea". In this video you can see a mistake. One re-inactor is in a position where he is caught between the hot rail as it is bent.
