When replacing brake pads, it's a good time to inspect your rotors for wear.
1. While wearing gloves, use a digital caliper to measure the thickness of the rotor’s braking track. If the measurement is below 1.55 mm, it’s time to replace the rotor.
2. Remove the wheel axle, with appropriate tool turning counterclockwise.
3. Use a lockring tool to turn the lockring counterclockwise to remove.
4. Remove the rotor from the hub and place it on a clean surface.
5. Install the new rotor on the hub, and hand tighten the lockring clockwise.
6. Torque the lockring clockwise to 40N-m.
7. Reinstall the wheel with the new rotor and tighten to your frame manufacturer’s specification.
8. Spin the wheel to ensure caliper alignment.
If swapping brake pads to a new compound, we recommend replacing your rotors at the same time using the same process.
