High power FM and TV stations have unique feed lines to get their signal from the transmitter to the antenna. The focus in this video is the first stage of the task of replacing Rigid Feed line, which is like an armored coaxial cable, only bigger. The reason for using rigid feed line is its ability to carry very high RF voltages. The station in this case is carrying over 40,000 watts of power to its antenna. Sometimes things happen to cause a form of short-circuit within these transmission lines and we get the call to replace the offending pieces. In this case the tower is 800 feet tall but fortunately for us the problem began at 160 feet and extended to 220 feet, making repair much easier than working at the top of the tower. This was a three day job and this video deals only with opening the first section of rigid line. Eventually we replaced three complete sections. I hope to get a little more Youtube video out of the "raw video" I have. This is public video number 99 on this channel. Can video 100 be far away?
