Hey Everyone, I’d like to take a minute and talk about the one thing that all live gigs have in common that most musicians and sound guys often miss.
I’ve been playing live for a long time, and I’m still surprised to see entertainers who don’t ever think about the room they’re performing in?
It’s a really obvious thing but I’ve seen so many bands for instance, who are just way too loud in the space they’re playing in, rehearsal studios ahh…..SO LOUD!!!
…..or the sound guy who just insists they use every bit of a 5,000 watt a side PA system at the sports bar!
And miking up a 100watt Marshal amp in a small pub, what’s that all about??
Anyway, please consider the room you’ll be playing in next and keep in mind the size of the space you’re in that you’ll be filling up with sound. Sometimes it doesn’t need to be loud, instead, go for clarity!
See you out there!
