1. SOUNDBITE (English) Carrington Whigham, Twitter User since 2010:
"I myself am going to hop on to 'Twitter'. It's going to take a time to be like, 'I am hopping on X', especially as someone who's been using from 2010, but I will say I enjoyed the idea of everyone getting a check mark not really for the ethical implications of the aspects of anyone just saying anything and having this status of verification, but for the sense of - we all can be verified human beings. It doesn't take for you to be on a reality TV show, and who's deeming you verified anyway?"

2. SOUNDBITE (English) Carrington Whigham, Twitter User since 2010:
“Initially, the thought of a single man buying an entity was terrifying. You know, a space where we thought that public discourse was you know, as free as possible, has adapted to now being privately owned, which is terrifying in its own way. And I feel like Elon Musk, what might have been a joke now, I think his intentions may be a bit genuine in a way. I really say that lightly because the things have been, I guess, progressive in a way that he's like, ‘Look, it's still the people space,’ you know? However, it's terrifying. The space that we all claim ours is just easily switched and easily conformed and easily transformed by a single person.”

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Carrington Whigham, Twitter User since 2010:
“I think this might not be an inappropriate time to just take a backseat approach to Twitter. All the things that are happening - I might just need to, you know, slow down on Twitter and just watch it unfold into whatever it is supposed to be to deem it good or bad for me.”
STORYLINE:
Elon Musk has unveiled a new “X” logo to replace Twitter’s famous blue bird as he follows through with a major rebranding of the social media platform he bought for $44 billion last year.
The X started appearing at the top of the desktop version of Twitter on Monday, but the bird was still dominant across the smartphone app. In response to questions about what tweets would be called when the rebranding is done, Musk said they would be called Xs.
"I myself am going to hop on to 'Twitter'. It's going to take a time to be like, 'I am hopping on X'," said Carrington Whigham, who has been using the app since 2010.
It’s yet another change that Musk has made since acquiring Twitter that has alienated users and turned off advertisers, leaving the microblogging site vulnerable to new threats, including rival Meta’s new text-based app Threads.
"I might just need to slow down on Twitter and just watch it unfold into whatever it is supposed to be to deem it good or bad for me." said Whigham.
