1:47 Who is Chris Colt?
Who is Chris Colt? Originally teased for season 4 The story of Chris Colt will be featured this upcoming Season 5.
Colt wore Alice Cooper-type makeup and was unique at the time in that he used intro music as well as exit music which was less common Now it's a mandatory staple of any character. This was during the early 70s. He would make his way to the ring to "Welcome to My Nightmare" while leaving to "No More Mr. Nice Guy", both songs by Alice Cooper.
Early in Colts career he met Russell Groves and formed a tag team with him, portraying themselves as
kayfabe biker brothers, Ronnie and Paul Dupree. They even named themselves Californias Hells Angels.
And hell they raised, mainly wrestling in the Detroit area where they became NWA tag team champions. The Tag Team moved to Phoenix, AZ. Where they were also over.
Partners in the ring they were also a couple in real life.
the real-life Hells Angels bikers would come to let their displeasure be known with Colt and Groves character portrayal as members of their association and The Tag Team was renamed.
Many feel Colt was way ahead of his time.. entrance music, outrageous costumes, and face make-up. He always worked the crowd and even innovated moves that were groundbreaking at the time; his third rope flying elbow broke ground as a finisher in an age when a body slam was still a viable finish.
Missing is the Kurt Angle episode mentioned in last week’s report. When an Angle-focused show was mentioned, some questioned what new ground there was to cover considering how open the Olympic gold medalist and WWE & TNA Hall of Famer’s been about his addiction history. Whether that led to it being shelved or if the report was simply wrong? Time may tell.
