In this week’s episode of Ask Monica, Nurse Practitioner 👩🏻⚕️ and health coach Monica Moore answers all your questions about Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT).
There are three main types of PGT: PGT-A, PGT-M, and PGT-SR. Wondering what each of these different tests are used for? As Monica explains, each one tests the embryo for certain markers that might interfere with successful embryo implantation and a healthy pregnancy and baby. For example, PGT-A looks for aneuploidy or an “abnormal number of chromosomes” prior to implantation. This aneuploidy will usually cause implantation failure or pregnancy loss, so having this knowledge prior to embryo transfer can make a huge difference in treatment success.
