Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant left Sunday's game in Colorado in the first inning after being hit in the head by a fast ball by Rockies pitcher, German Marquez. Bryant's glasses flew out and his helmet turned over his head when the shot hit him around the forehead area. He seemed dazed because the training staff helped him out of the field, but he passed all the tests related to the concussion, according to the team.
Bryant suffered a small laceration above his left eye because of his sunglasses, the team said. He will continue to be monitored. The Cubs followed the HBP with four hits, scoring three times, all with two outs. Bryant, 26, was hitting .319 with an on-base percentage of .461 before being hit on 1-2 pitch, a 96-mph fastball.
