If you made our Skillet-Baked Applesauce, you probably have a lot of apple peels and pieces. Don't throw them away though, you can use them to make your house smell amazing!
All you need to do is combine a few simple ingredients, place on your stove-top, boil and then drop down to a simmer. Even better, if you have a wood-burning stove in your home, place this on top and it'll do all the work.

HOMEMADE FALL SIMMER POT
4 cups apple peels/pieces
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 tablespoon cloves
3 cinnamon sticks (or 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon)
4 cups water (approximately)
COMBINE all apples, lemon juice, nutmeg, vanilla, cloves and cinnamon into a bowl.
STIR to combine.
ADD about four cups of water (or enough to completely cover ingredients) in a pot or saucepan.
HEAT on high to bring to a boil.
LOWER heat once water begins to boil.
SIMMER to allow fragrance to permeate.
*ADD water as needed when liquid evaporates.
