Recorded 1904
Alessandro Moreschi & 3 Mystery Soloists - La Cruda Mia Nemica by Palestrina.
Conducted by Baron Kanzler
I believe the baritone is Antonio Cotogni.
The tenor part has been suggested to be Cesare Boezi, but unconfirmed.
The alto part is most likely sung by the castrato Domenico Salvatori.
The Roman Catholic Church in 1903 issued the Tra Le Sollecitudini which made this music by Palestrina forbidden to be sung by the Sistine Chapel Choir, of which Moreschi and Salvatori were members. The original label on this recording refers to the singers only as "Cantori Romani" (singers of Rome). We know however that the soprano can only be Alessandro Moreschi.
