Bonfires. It's bonfires.
We're gonna aggressively construct bonfires to both attack and defend from Bonemass and his mobs.
Attacking Bonemass - If Bonemass isn't attacking, he's usually coming at you in the straightest line he can until he's in range. Use this knowledge to kite him onto a bonfire and then simply allow him to attack you while he takes damage over time and fails to passively heal. This serves as a fantastic counter to his poison area denial attack: He says, "Me puke now, you no be here" and we reply, "Fine, you can sit by yourself and burn." Feel free to also apply a mace generously (but don't overdo it).
Defending from Bonemass - The bonfire has two states: pre-ignition and ignition. Bonemass seems to essentially ignore pre-ignition bonfires as an obstacle when calculating his trajectory toward the player. At the last second, we can throw a piece of wood in the fire and up springs a barrier, causing him confusion (and burning) and allowing us to deal with his mobs. Dodge rolling is also pretty good, I hear.
Attacking his mobs - Blobs and skeletons are dumb. Sometimes you can do cool stuff by igniting a fire at the right time. Save stamina by allowing mobs to get injured by fires first (or get a hit in when you can and use the fires to finish them off). The secondary mace attack is great for 1-shotting full-health blobs, but if they are injured try to just left click once or twice.
Defending from his mobs - Blobs and skeletons are dumb. Sometimes you can do cool stuff by igniting a fire at the right time. Prioritize killing archers, they won't typically be running into fires, so you're gonna have to do it yourself.
Suggestions: 1) Remember to breathe. Take it slow. (If you watch the video you'll see me doing absolutely nothing at several points in order to collect myself) 2) Don't botch the opening mace attack 3) Wear a helmet
RULES: 1) Walk, don't run 2) If you're in his face and he looks like he's gonna spew, IMMEDIATELY break rule 1
Disclaimer: Shortly before I began recording I used a console command to clear nearby enemies (new ones can still spawn). You're gonna have to do it yourself the hard way.
I credit Nick Rawcliffe with exposing me to the idea of using bonfires as a weapon in the swamp. He's making great content, both live and produced videos, here: [ Ссылка ]
P.S. This is not a strategy intended for new players, but rather people who have beaten Bonemass in conventional ways and are looking for a new, FUN experience/challenge.
