The Mandalorian is an American space Western television series created by Jon Favreau for the streaming service Disney+.

At the end of an already frantic 2020, Disney broke the internet with an almost-overwhelming number of announcements at Disney Investor Day 2020. Among all of the Marvel and Pixar gems revealed, the Star Wars universe also expanded in ways that not even (OG) Yoda himself could have foreseen.

News that Hayden Christensen will return as Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show took centre stage — and rightly so. Prequel hive rejoice! But if you were paying close attention to all of the announcements, you would also know that The Mandalorian has now been officially renewed for a third season.

We originally thought that Disney had confirmed The Mandalorian season three would premiere in time for Christmas Day, 2021, but it's now clear that this was referring to the Boba Fett spin-off instead. Whether this means that Boba's first episode will arrive on December 25 or earlier remains unclear. Either way, it's a festive treat for us all. That means season three will arrive early 2022 at the earliest.

It looks like Boba Fett and Fennec Shand will take centre stage in season three. Rangers of the New Republic, Ahsoka and The Book of Boba Fett will be set during the same timeline as The Mandalorian, so don't be surprised if they connect to the main show in some capacity.
