Vanarinda Jataka (#57)
The Bodhisat was born as a large monkey who would jump back and forth from the river bank to a nearby island. There, he would spend the day eating his fill of mangoes before returning home. A crocodile, trying to please his pregnant wife, schemed how to capture the monkey. However, the monkey used his cunning to outsmart the crocodile and survived the encounter.
Wat San Fran is proud to present stories taken from the Jatakas, Dhammapada, and Buddhist history. These stories often use past rebirth stories (Jatakas) to reveal the connection between past and present, and illustrate the relationship between cause and effect.
