How to make Loubieh bi Lahmeh (Green beans with Meat Lebanese Stew)
This can also be cooked as a vegetarian dish! Just take out the meat and follow the recipe.
Best enjoyed with a side of rice.
Recipe:
Serves: approx 4-6
Cooking Time: approx 2 hours
Ingredients:
1 small onion and garlic clove
500g lamb strips or cutlets or beef strips
500g green beans
2-3 tspn salt
2-3 tspn black pepper
2-3 tspn Lebanese 7 Spices Blend (baharat)
1-2 tspn pomegranate molasses (optional)
boiled water and oil for cooking
Method:
1. Clean and chop the green beans (set aside), finely dice onion and garlic
2. In a med-large pot, heat oil, add onions and garlic, once golden, remove and add your choice of meats, half the salt, pepper, spices and molasses
3. Once the meat is cooked, add the onions and garlic back to the pot, mix thru then add the beans and hot water (until beans are covered) and the other half of the salt, pepper and spices
4. Bring to boil, simmer and cover until beans are soft (approx 2 hours)
5. Serve with rice and enjoy!
