In this video, I have analyzed the poem and discussed overall meaning of the sonnet Death Be Not Proud by John Donne. The poet presents a contradictory image of death and mockingly says that Death is neither mighty nor dreadful. He gives reasons: first, he compares death to rest and sleep. Second, he also compares death to an enslaved person. By ridiculing his status, he overcomes the fear of death.
