In a bizarre and controversial incident, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) deployed their high-tech robot police dog, worth a staggering $278,000, in a predawn standoff with a man on a bus believed to be armed in Hollywood. The unfolding drama began with a "man with a gun" radio call near Western and Melrose avenues at around 4 AM. Despite initial reports suggesting a firearm, it was later confirmed that only a BB gun was found at the scene. This marks the second time the LAPD has utilized their robot canine during a SWAT standoff, raising concerns about the escalating use of expensive and futuristic technology against individuals deemed non-threatening.
