Body Horror is a Horror subgenre that features viral or medical transformations of the human body. Changes in the body are often grotesque and visually disturbing. Body Horror often shares similarities with other Horror subgenres such as Psychological & Medical Horror and and Sci-Fi subgenres including Sci-Fi Biotech Films.

Body Horror has become an increasingly popular Horror subgenre over the last five decades. Part of this increase can be attributed to the Godfather of Body Horror – David Cronenberg and his son, Brandon Cronenberg. David Cronenberg dominated the 1970's and 1980's with famous Body Horror films including Scanners (1981) and The Fly (1986). His son, Brandon Cronenberg, has taken the Body Horror baton from his father and has continued the Cronenberg Body Horror trend with Antiviral (2012) and Possessor (2020).
