A famous medieval poem celebrating the Annunciation.
Often performed as a song version around Advent and Christmas.
(Excuse the seagulls in the background towards the end of the recording)
I Sing of a Maiden
I sing of a maiden
That is makeless:
King of all kinges
To her son she ches.
He came all so stille
There his mother was
As dew in Aprille
That falleth on the grass.
He came all so stille
To his mother's bower
As dew in Aprille
That falleth on the flower.
He came all so stille
There his mother lay
As dew in Aprille
That falleth on the spray.
Mother and maiden
Was never none but she;
Well may such a lady
Goddes mother be.
