Although I’ve been quite busy, I’m honored to release one of the most well-loved songs of the series. The amount of hours spent mixing and creating the motion graphics…we don’t talk about that. I honestly would have kept trying to improve the mix, but my project file was lost due to computer problems, so I had to accept my most recent render as good enough. Our goal is a much larger scale project that has been in the works for around 5 years now….though time is always a commodity I’m short on. I hope you enjoy what we have for now and please don’t hesitate to reach out about future project opportunities!

I have gone about writing lyrics in a way I don't see many others doing so I figured I would explain my process and reasoning. Although we often go for literal line by line translations and then fit them to the rhythm with synonyms and the like, I realized that subliminal and intentional meaning is lost when we do these rough translations. For every song, I examine the context of its appearance within the show, various language's translations, and the lyrics as a whole rather than line by line. I always ask myself, "What is this line's purpose? What is it trying to communicate? Why did they chose this wording?" etc. By doing so, I personally found a deeper appreciation for the lyrical stories in Mermaid Melody. Below you will find the interpretation of this song that I came to utilizing this process:

Another song that was intimidating to start—and yet Kodou was the first song that I truly felt a deeper understanding and connection to via writing. "Kodou" itself refers to a heartbeat and has musical connections as well, similar to how in English we use the same word for heart "beat" and "beat" of a drum. This song first appears in episode 49 and according to Aqua Regina it was born from the resonance of the seven pearls—we are also shown Sara's emotional reaction to her pearl shining when the girls are gifted the new song. Although it is not sung directly to Sara in this first appearance, I have interpreted Kodou as a love song from the Mermaids to each other—specifically to Sara. They sing about forgiveness and that it's never too late for her to join them in "Perfect Harmony"... I really just wanted to try and capture the feelings everyone has for Sara while writing my lyrics.
