Tolui, Yuan Ruizong, was Genghis Khan's fourth son and the father of Mongke, Kublai, and Hulagu Khan, the founder of the Ilkhanate. He was a brave and proficient military commander who participated in several significant battles and briefly assumed regency after Genghis Khan's death, paving the way for Ögedei's succession.
