The common myth is once you have a transplant, of the transplant kidney fails, the patient dies Normally what happens is, when you have a kidney transplant, if the kidney is rejected, the transplant kidney fails and the patient can go on dialysis. Infact if you look at the cases that are coming now in the Western world now, in America, the 4th or the 5th commonest cause of transplant failure is kidney failure. So transplant kidney failing does not mean that you are going to die, because once the transplant kidney fails, you can go for dialysis and you can go for a second transplant and I know cases where they have gone upto 7 transplants. In my own experience, patients have goes upto 4 transplants. So transplant kidney failure does not man death, because they can go back on dialysis, they can go back for retransplantation.
