The National Anthem of the Netherlands is the oldest National Anthem in the world. This version is the one you can hear before the Netherlands national football team play a FIFA
match, and, (if I'm not mistaken) UEFA matches.

Het volkslied van Nederland is het oudste volkslied in de wereld. Dit is de versie die voor FIFA-wedstrijden (en als ik me niet vergis, ook UEFA wedstrijden) wordt afgespeeld. Dit is naar mijn mening een van de mooiste volksliederen in de wereld.

The namesake of this piece is William the Silent (Willem van Oranje), whose actions during the Dutch revolt led to independence from Spain and the founding of the Dutch Republic. He was assassinated by Balthasar Gerards, a loyalist to King Philip II of Spain, in Delft, South Holland where he now rests in the Nieuwe Kerk.
