서울시 마스크 착용 의무화 세부지침 마련
Masks are now required in all public places in Seoul.
Some people have been unsure, though, where exactly they have to wear them, so the city has released new guidelines.
Our Han Seong-woo has this report.
Wearing masks in public, except for when eating or drinking, has been mandatory in Seoul since last Monday.
The rule came as recent cluster infections concentrated in the capital area saw the number of daily new cases reach the hundreds.
The city released detailed guidelines about the mandatory mask rule on Monday.
The guidelines say people don't need to wear masks when driving their cars alone or with family members.
Infants younger than 24 months and those with respiratory diseases are also exempt from the measure, as are professionals who can't work while wearing a mask, such as actors, certain musicians and athletes.
Everyone else will have to wear masks in indoor public spaces including workplaces and public transport.
They must also wear masks outdoors where it's difficult to maintain a two meter distance.
Masks must also cover the nose and mouth, meaning wearing a mask tucked under the chin is not good enough.
From October 13th, when the grace period ends, violators can be fined up to 100,000 won, or roughly 85 U.S. dollars.
The policy will remain in place until the social distancing level is lowered from the current level two to level one.
