One of the fun parts about having braces is the colorful rubber bands used in the treatment! Most offices have up to 50 different colors to choose from, so there are many ways to let your personality shine with your braces.
Here, Diamond Braces orthodontist demonstrates how the rubber bands are changed.
During your regular orthodontic visits, your wires will be tightened and your rubber bands changed out to make sure the elastic is fresh and effective. At the visit, the orthodontist or the assistant will ask you which color elastics you would like: you can keep the same colors throughout the whole treatment, but you can also change them up every month!
In this video, Diamond Braces patient Beckoff has requested hot pink elastics. Dr. Lawrence uses a specialized instrument called a Mathieu plier to remove the old elastics and install the new ones. This process is quick and simple, no pain at all. The whole process takes only about 1 minute.
When you go to the office for your regular orthodontic visits, you can let the orthodontist know which colors you’d like. Switch them up for seasonal events like holidays, or to root for your favorite sports team! You can even alternate colors – choose up to 3 different colors for a fun and festive look.
