Brighter Death Now is a Swedish industrial and dark ambient music project founded by Roger Karmanik in the late 1980s to early 1990s. It was one of the first projects on his label Cold Meat Industry. The music of Brighter Death Now is characterized by its slow, heavy, and often repetitive drone-like nature, punctuated by occasional outbursts of noise or mechanical groans. He is considered to be the one who pioneered the death industrial subgenre. Brighter Death Now's early work was influenced by the music of early industrial pioneers such as Throbbing Gristle, Whitehouse, and SPK. However, the project later developed a more unique sound, incorporating elements of dark ambient and power electronics while utilizing macabre imagery. Brighter Death Now's music has been described as "oppressive", "haunting", "intense", and "hypnotic". It has been known to induce feelings of anxiety and despair in listeners.
