The Division of Humanities welcomed distinguished alumna Catherine Glynn Benkaim as the keynote speaker at the 2013 Humanities Commencement ceremonies. Benkaim is a distinguished scholar, lecturer and independent curator in the field of South Asian art. She is the author of many scholarly publications, beginning more than 40 years ago with her work on paintings from the Punjab Hills of northern India, and now with the painting collections of the royal families in Rajasthan. She received a bachelor's degree from UCSB, a master's degree from UCLA, and a doctorate from USC.
