An international election observation mission comprised of 358 observers from 41 countries concluded that despite a large number of candidates in Azerbaijan’s early parliamentary elections on 9 February 2020, voters were not provided with a meaningful choice, due to a lack of real political discussion. The OSCE short-term observer mission was led by Special Co-ordinator Artur Gerasymov, a Ukrainian parliamentarian who serves as Vice-Chair of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s economic and environmental committee. The OSCE PA observer mission was led by Albanian parliamentarian Elona Hoxha-Gjebrea and included 57 parliamentarians and staff.
