Hang gliding is an air sport that is also a recreational activity which are glided by a professional pilot. Most hang gliders are made out of aluminum alloy or composite frame and covered with synthetic sailcloth to form a wing. In 1891, Otto Lilienthal made thousands of flights before his gliding accident in 1896. Lilienthal was the inventor of the sport.
